Cortistatin-14

Somatostatin-Related Neuropeptide

Also known as: CST-14

A somatostatin-related neuropeptide with additional anti-inflammatory, slow-wave sleep-promoting, & anxiolytic properties not shared by classical somatostatin.

Typical Dose

Research standard: varies by model

Route

Intravenous or intracerebroventricular (research)

Cycle

Research only

Half-life

Short (similar to somatostatin-14)

Storage

2–8°C lyophilized.

Overview

Cortistatin-14 is a cyclic neuropeptide with high structural homology to somatostatin-14 that binds all somatostatin receptors & also activates MrgX2 & ghrelin receptors. It has unique properties: it enhances slow-wave sleep, reduces motor activity, & has strong anti-inflammatory effects (including in rheumatoid arthritis models) that are more pronounced than those of somatostatin.
