DSIP

Sleep / Neuromodulator Peptide

Also known as: Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide · DSIP nonapeptide

A nonapeptide isolated from rabbit brain that induces delta sleep, modulates stress hormones, & has shown anti-stress & analgesic properties.

Typical Dose

200–500 mcg pre-sleep

Route

Subcutaneous injection

Cycle

2–4 weeks

Half-life

~30 minutes (nonapeptide; rapidly degraded)

Storage

Reconstituted: 2–8°C, use within 30 days.

Overview

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from rabbit brain in 1974 & named for its ability to induce slow-wave (delta) sleep when administered to animals. It is widely distributed in the CNS & peripheral tissues & likely functions as a neuromodulator rather than a neurotransmitter.

Clinical effects in humans include reduction of sleep-onset latency, normalization of sleep architecture, & analgesic properties independent of opioid receptors. Some researchers have studied it for alcohol withdrawal, pain syndromes, & stress-related disorders. Its mechanism remains incompletely understood.

Quick Start Guide

1

Reconstitute with 1 mL BAC water per 5 mg vial.

2

Inject 200–500 mcg subcutaneously 30–60 minutes before sleep.

Research Indications

Sleep quality improvement

Effective

Induces delta (slow-wave) sleep in animals. Human studies show improved sleep architecture & sleep onset.

Stress modulation

Moderate

Reduces hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis activation in stressed animals. Some human data on stress reduction.

Research Protocols

Sleep improvement

2–4 weeks

Dose

200–300 mcg

Frequency

30–60 min before sleep

Route

SubQ abdomen

Peptide Interactions

EpitalonCompatible

Both target sleep quality & circadian regulation through different mechanisms. Sometimes combined.

Side Effects & Safety

Common

  • Drowsiness (intended effect)
  • Injection site redness

Uncommon

  • Headache on waking
  • Vivid dreams

When to Stop

  • Signs of allergic reaction

How to Reconstitute

1

Wipe stopper. Add 1 mL BAC water. Swirl gently. Refrigerate.

Dosing math: 1 mL BAC water per 5 mg = 5000 mcg/mL. For 300 mcg: 0.06 mL.

Quality Indicators

Good — use as normal

  • Clear, colorless solution

Acceptable

  • Very faint tint

Discard immediately

  • Cloudiness
  • Particulate

What to Expect

Week 1

Sleep onset improvements typically noticeable within the first few doses.

Week 2–4

Consistent delta sleep promotion & stress reduction accumulating.
