Thymalin

Thymic Immune Modulator

Also known as: Thymus polypeptide · Timogen

A polypeptide thymus extract with immunomodulatory & anti-aging properties. Used in Russian & Eastern European medicine for immune reconstitution & longevity.

Typical Dose

5–10 mg once daily for 10 days (2–3 cycles per year)

Route

Intramuscular injection (preferred) or SubQ

Cycle

10-day cycles, 2–3x per year

Half-life

Short (polypeptide mixture; variable)

Storage

Lyophilized: 2–8°C. Reconstituted: use within 24 hours.

Overview

Thymalin is a polypeptide preparation extracted from bovine thymus gland, developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson (the same researcher behind Epitalon). It contains multiple short peptides derived from thymic stromal proteins & is thought to act through a similar immunomodulatory mechanism to Thymosin Alpha-1.

Clinical use in Russia spans over 30 years for a range of conditions including immune deficiency, chronic infection, cancer adjuvant therapy, & aging-related immune decline. Human longevity studies from St. Petersburg showed significantly lower mortality over 6–8 year follow-up in elderly subjects treated with cyclical Thymalin.

Quick Start Guide

1

Reconstitute with 1 mL sterile water per 10 mg vial.

2

Inject 5–10 mg intramuscularly once daily for 10 days. Repeat 2–3 times per year.

Research Indications

Immune reconstitution

Effective

Restores T-cell & NK cell function in age-related or pathology-related immune decline. Russian clinical tradition spans 30+ years.

Anti-aging / longevity

Moderate

Geroprotective studies show reduced mortality in elderly subjects over 6–8 year follow-up with cyclical treatment.

Research Protocols

Immune cycle (standard)

10 consecutive days; repeat 2–3x/year

Dose

5–10 mg

Frequency

Once daily IM

Peptide Interactions

EpitalonCompatible

Khavinson's longevity protocols frequently combine Thymalin (thymus) with Epitalon (pineal). Complementary immune + telomere/circadian effects.

Side Effects & Safety

Common

  • Injection site soreness (IM injection)
  • Transient fatigue

Uncommon

  • Mild fever (immune activation)

When to Stop

  • Active autoimmune disease
  • Signs of allergic reaction

How to Reconstitute

1

Add 1 mL sterile water per 10 mg vial.

2

Swirl gently until dissolved.

3

Use within 24 hours.

Dosing math: 1 mL sterile water per 10 mg = 10000 mcg/mL. For 5 mg: 0.5 mL. Use BAC water only if multi-dose across multiple days.

Quality Indicators

Good — use as normal

  • Clear to slightly opalescent solution (polypeptide mix may be slightly turbid)

Acceptable

  • Slight turbidity consistent with polypeptide extract nature

Discard immediately

  • Visible particulate
  • Strong discoloration
  • Unrefrigerated reconstituted product

What to Expect

Days 1–10 (active cycle)

Immune activation begins within days. Some users notice improved energy & mood during the cycle.

Post-cycle (weeks–months)

Immune reconstitution effect persists for months after a 10-day cycle. Longevity effects are not experientially measurable.
