Overview

Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Asn) from the Khavinson peptide bioregulator series, derived from cortical brain tissue extracts. Like Epitalon (pineal) & Thymalin (thymus), it is proposed to act by penetrating cell nuclei & modulating gene expression in cortical neurons.

Animal studies show cognitive improvement, neuroprotection against ischemia, & reduction in age-related cortical decline. Human clinical data is limited to observational studies in the Russian medical tradition.
