Selank

Nootropic / Anxiolytic Peptide

Also known as: TP-7 · Selanke

A synthetic heptapeptide based on the tuftsin fragment with anxiolytic, nootropic, & immune-modulating effects. Approved in Russia for anxiety & stress disorders.

Typical Dose

250–500 mcg 2–3x daily (intranasal or SubQ)

Route

Intranasal (most common) or subcutaneous injection

Cycle

2–4 weeks on, then break; or ongoing at low doses

Half-life

~4 minutes (active metabolites persist longer)

Storage

Reconstituted: 2–8°C, use within 30 days.

Overview

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (TKPRPGP) derived from the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (TKPR) with an added Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that prolongs its biological activity. It is approved by the Russian Ministry of Health for generalized anxiety disorder & neurasthenia.

Its primary mechanism involves modulation of GABAergic transmission (anxiolytic effect similar to benzodiazepines but without sedation or dependence), inhibition of enkephalin degradation (increasing endogenous opioid tone), & upregulation of BDNF & GDNF (neurotrophic factors). It does not cause physical dependence or withdrawal.

Quick Start Guide

1

Reconstitute with 1 mL bacteriostatic water per 5 mg vial (5000 mcg/mL).

2

Intranasal: 250 mcg (2–3 drops in each nostril) 2–3x daily.

3

SubQ: 250–500 mcg once or twice daily.

Research Indications

Anxiety & stress

Most Effective

Russian clinical approval for anxiety disorders. GABAergic modulation produces anxiolysis without sedation or dependence.

Cognitive enhancement

Effective

Improves attention, memory consolidation, & information processing in human studies. BDNF upregulation contributes to neuroplasticity.

Immune modulation

Moderate

Derived from tuftsin; retains some immunomodulatory activity (macrophage activation, NK cell enhancement).

Peptide Interactions

SemaxSynergistic

Selank (anxiolytic/focus) + Semax (cognitive stimulation/BDNF) is a popular nootropic combination. Complementary mechanisms.

Side Effects & Safety

Common

  • Mild sedation (usually dose-dependent)
  • Nasal irritation (intranasal route)
  • Vivid dreams

Uncommon

  • Headache
  • Increased appetite

When to Stop

  • Signs of allergic reaction

How to Reconstitute

1

Reconstitute with 1 mL BAC water per 5 mg vial.

2

Transfer to nasal spray bottle for intranasal use.

3

Refrigerate. Use within 30 days.

Dosing math: 1 mL BAC water per 5 mg = 5000 mcg/mL. For 250 mcg intranasal: 0.05 mL (approx 2–3 drops in each nostril with standard nasal spray = ~125 mcg per nostril).

Quality Indicators

Good — use as normal

  • Clear, colorless solution

Acceptable

  • Very slight tint

Discard immediately

  • Cloudiness
  • Particulate

What to Expect

Day 1–3

Anxiolytic effect apparent almost immediately. Many users report calm & focus within the first few doses.

Week 1–2

Cognitive benefits accumulating. Memory & attention improvements may be more noticeable by end of week 2.

Week 3–4

Peak benefit for most users. Tolerance does not appear to develop within this window.
